Once upon a time, there was a girl called Faye who lived in a land far far away, called Yorkshire. Faye was just like any normal girl with a job, a car and a love of chocolate. However, there was one thing in her life that made her sad. So sad that even chocolate couldn't cheer her up. Faye was only 5ft tall (*sharp intake of breath*).

Ok. Being 5ft isn't exactly the end of the world, but it's a nightmare when going shopping, which is something that, apparently, all women love. I don't know about you, but I hate it! Trousers are always too long, the petite clothes section is always really boring and anything I do like is never available in petite sizes. It's soooooo frustrating and depressing.

So what is Shortbred? Shortbred is a label developed for petite women by a petite woman. Believe me, I feel your pain! Apart from the name being absolutely fabulous (ah-hem), Shortbred believe that we, although small in stature, are capable of very big things.

We're on a petite mission to make the fashion industry take serious notice of us shorties, and Shortbred plans to be at the forefront of this petite revolution.

Shortbred trivia: did you know that the average height for women in the UK is 5ft 3.5in? (Source: ONS) Shocking! Even we didn't think it was that small. Yet standard women's clothes are made a lot taller than this.

A lot of us small women out there are having an even harder time if you're a UK size 4 (US size 0). For some reason, there's been a lot of hysteria built up over size "0". Yes, we know that if you’re a size "0" and 5ft 10 that you're going to be on the very skinny/boarder line anorexic side, but if you’re 4ft 8 and a size "0" you can be perfectly healthy.

Size 4 has always been very hard to find, and developing a petite clothing label hasn't made it any easier. We have been unable to find a size 4 for the Shortbred range, but we hope to resolve this. If you are a size 4 please contact us and we will endeavour to add this to the range if there is sufficient demand.
